"The Search Process."

Preliminary Consultation. We begin the process with a thorough examination of the position(s) and the issues of the client. We get to know your organizational and management objectives and how they pertain to the requirements for the position(s). We also seek to understand your management style, current business challenges, and the culture of your organization.

Job Definition. Once approved to commence work, we develop a careful and detailed position specification for each assignment. The specification describes both the position and the personal requirements a candidate should have to fit that position and is used as our guideline throughout the process.

Work Plan and Strategy. Our research then begins with an in-depth approach, focusing on a list of target companies and potential sources whichfs is reviewed with you first for appropriateness. We then identify and contact potential candidates with qualifications similar to the specification for the position. Because successful executives with the qualities you seek are usually not actively seeking a position, they need to be sought out by means of a direct approach.

Candidate Identification and Screening. We then telephone screen all prospective candidates to determine their qualifications and level of interest. We involve you, the client, in all aspects of our process, reviewing our progress with you on an ongoing basis. We then prepare a report of our findings relative to the final candidates and arrange interviews. In most situations we will group the interviews in clusters and travel to the final candidates’ locale to conduct the interviews. You may or may not wish to participate in these preliminary interviews. Those candidates moving forward from this step are scheduled for final interviews with the client.

References and Salary Negotiations. Finally, in the very important areas of reference and salary negotiations, we stay close to both you and the candidate. This includes a comprehensive summary of what will attract this individual, plus an appraisal of the current thinking of the candidate and his/her spouse. Our goal is to pave the way so that a candidate is prepared to accept the offer you are prepared to tender. In all cases, however, the final selection of the preferred candidate is made by you.

Follow-up. We remain in contact with both you and the successful candidate during his or her transition period until start date. Thereafter, we periodically communicate with you and the hired executive to assure that the expectations of both parties are being met.
